Usage component. Data Credits from $0.05 each; Actions from under $0.01. Bring-your-own API keys skip Data Credits but still consume Actions. Mid-cycle top-ups at a 30% premium.

How credits/tokens work. Actions reset monthly with no rollover; Launch/Growth Data Credits bank up to 2x monthly; Enterprise rolls over up to 15% of prior-year credits on renewal at equal or higher commitment. About 80% of AI models at a flat credit rate; token-heavy models passed through at cost.

What changed in 2025–2026

11 Mar 2026: replaced single-credit Starter/Explorer/Pro plans with Data Credits + Actions; marketplace data costs cut 50-90%; top-up premium cut from 50% to 30%; legacy switch window to 10 Apr 2026. Clay said it expects about 10% lower revenue and admitted its 2022 Pro tier was underpriced and run at a loss.

What you can steal

  1. Pricing

Clay split the 'data' it resells from the 'work' its platform does, so it charges for orchestration even when customers bring their own keys. If customers can bypass your resale margin, charge for the platform work.
