How credits/tokens work. When credits run out, sites pause until the next cycle; if one project exceeds limits, all projects on the account pause unless auto-recharge or an upgrade is enabled.

What changed in 2025–2026

4 Sep 2025: all new accounts moved to credit-based plans; legacy plans retained for existing accounts. Users on Reddit called the credits 'abstract and unclear'.

What you can steal

  1. Pricing

Pausing every site when credits run out protects Netlify's costs but makes customers fear outages. Never let a billing limit take a customer's product offline without a grace buffer.
